Class Levels Explained

Beginner: The perfect place to begin and gain comfort and confidence. We move from pose to pose at a slower pace to build flexibility, strength & mindfulness, while occasionally pausing to investigate poses and the specifics of alignment.

All Levels: These classes cater to everyone from the absolute beginner to the most advanced – all are welcome! You will build on fundamental yoga poses to increase strength, flexibility, and balance. These classes assume some yoga knowledge and experience and/or the willingness to learn as you go. Modifications and prop use will be incorporated to ensure poses and sequences are practiced safely and effectively.

Moderate: These mixed level classes move at a steady pace with intelligent options and variations for all levels to explore. Poses are linked together with the breath while building strength, stamina, and flexibility. These classes generally have a flow and rhythm to them to support you in experiencing a moving meditation. Expect mindful alignment cues as you deepen your practice both physically and spiritually.

Vigorous: These classes are for students who have a basic understanding of the poses and who feel comfortable moving from pose to pose with fewer alignment cues and demonstrations. Expect to move more quickly or to hold postures for an extended amount of time. More physically demanding poses, such as arm balances and backbends, may be offered in these classes, as well as creative sequencing, non-traditional movements, variations, and partner work. Modifications will be offered.


Class Descriptions
Yoga Basics (Level: Beginner)

This class is geared towards students new to yoga and to those with a yoga practice that are looking to refine their understanding of frequently used yoga postures. Through a focus on alignment, breath, and awareness, students will learn how to position their body to keep joints safe and as well as how to maximize the healing benefits of a yoga practice. Students will learn how to modify positions for their particular needs while building strength and releasing tension from tight muscles. This session is led by our in house Yoga Advisor who will lovingly guide you towards building a life long practice of your own. All levels of practitioners are welcomed, no experience is necessary! Alignment Awareness (Level: Beginner and All Levels)

In this class, you will learn how to align your body in a way that supports your individual needs and abilities. This class is appropriate for beginners and seasoned practitioners looking for a mindful practice, guidance with individualized alignment, and a focus on deepening the awareness of the body. Alignment Awareness will help you gain access to better mobility, balance, and increased range of motion. Thursdays, 9:15-10:30am with Lisa Nigro

Lyme Support (Level: Beginner and All Levels)

Yoga is a powerful prescription for those living with Lyme. It has the ability to positively influence the many systems of the body that Lyme impacts. To name a few healing aspects; it calms the nervous system, stimulates circulation, and helps to move stagnant energy through the whole body. Class begins with a sharing circle where we experience the joy of community support. Themes are weaved within each session to create a deeper sense of connection with illness as an ally. We then focus on integration through gentle yet stimulating yoga postures, restorative poses, and meditation to awaken a sense of peace and compassion within the body temple. No previous yoga experience is required, simply a desire to find community on the sometimes isolating, confusing, and difficult path of recovery. Fridays, 11:00am-12:30pm with Gretchen Newman

Therapeutic (Level: Beginner & All Levels)

Therapeutic Yoga is a slow paced class that focuses on bringing the body into postural balance, repatterining the nervous system, and gaining greater body awareness. So much pain and discomfort that people experience stems from postural imbalance, such as back pain, hip pain, and neck & shoulder tension. Therapeutic Yoga will help to correct postural imbalances through gentle stretching, strengthening, and awareness practices. Tuesdays, 4:00-5:15pm with Leela Kelley

Gentle (Level: Beginner & All Levels)

Beginners and seasoned practitioners always welcome! These classes are appropriate for everyone, especially new students, and always for those who want to carve out time in their lives to simply slow down and take some rest. Enjoy a nurturing and relaxing practice of accessible postures and guided meditation in motion while moving toward greater balance, ease, and vitality. Thursdays, 4:00-5:15pm with Cindy Levine

Stress Relief (Level: Beginner & All Levels)

This class is appropriate for all students seeking the benefits of a very relaxing, gentle and, nourishing practice. Incorporating gentle hatha yoga, deep restorative work, breathwork, and meditation each class will emphasize range of motion, joint mobility, reduction in pain, and healing from the physical, emotional, and mental effects of stress. This practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held patterns of tension from the body and mind. Wednesdays, 5:30-6:45pm with Heather Franchino AND Saturdays, 10:30-11:45am with Tracy Donahue

Prenatal Yoga (Level: Beginner and All Levels)

Prenatal yoga enhances and empowers a woman’s experience of pregnancy and birth on all levels. Physically, prenatal yoga increases strength and flexibility and can alleviate common prenatal ailments, all while helping a woman to prepare her body for labor and birth. Yoga also encourages a woman to connect with her pregnancy and her baby’s growth as a journey into motherhood. Through this journey, a woman can learn to trust herself, and her connection with the Universe, ultimately feeling more deeply connected with baby. The group setting of prenatal yoga provides a woman with a close-knit community of support, within which resources, questions, concerns and excitements can be shared openly. This Prenatal Yoga series will consist of gentle, strengthening, and safe flows designed to support the body and mind through all stages of pregnancy. Each class will incorporate strengthening poses, restorative poses, breath work, meditation, and guided relaxation. Tuesdays, 5:30-7:00pm with Amanda Upton

Flow & Go (Level: All Levels)

This fun and invigorating one-hour yoga class is the perfect way to get going in the morning. Not only will you wake up easier and faster, you’ll also leave class feeling energized and relaxed, focused and expansive with vitality and energy for your entire day. In this all levels class you will move through a mindful progression of movements to build strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance. Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30am with Kellyn McCullough and Thursdays, 7:30-8:30am with Heather Franchino

Soul Sunday (Level: All Levels)

Soul Sunday is a vinyasa based yoga class that includes explorations in the unlimited delights of yoga. Class may include Hindu mythology, the connection of yoga and dance, chakra excursions, yoga philosophy, or live music. Sweet and soulful. Sundays, 10:00am – 11:15am with Carly Fox

Yoga for Everyone (Level: All Levels)

An all levels class featuring a variety of poses and flowing movements to improve flexibility, balance, physical comfort and peace of mind. This class is FREE. Last Friday of the Month, 5:30-6:45pm with a PM Teacher

Strength and Flexibility (Level: Moderate)

This class is designed to bring us into balance by focusing on both strength (stability) and flexibility (ease, openness, freedom). Classes may incorporate a moving meditation (linking poses with the flow of the breath), music, mantra, meditation, and yoga philosophy. You will move at a steady pace and will focus on strength, flexibility, balance, and breath. Some yoga experience is recommended as there may be less detailed instruction in these classes. Tuesdays, 9:15-10:30am with Lisa Nigro, Wednesdays 4:00-5:15pm with Heather Franchino, and Saturdays, 9:00-10:15am with Liz Jordan

Strength and Stamina (Level: Vigorous)

In this class, you will create whole body support and build strength and stamina in your upper body, lower body, and core. This class will incorporate a steady series of postures and fun movements to help you get stronger and feel better whether you are a new or seasoned yoga practitioner. Focus areas in Strength & Stamina: Upper Body (arms, chest, shoulders), lower body (hips, glutes, and hamstrings), and core (abdominal powerhouse). Wednesdays, 9:15-10:30am with Amanda Upton and Thursdays, 5:30-6:45pm with Bronwyn Sims

Integrated Flow (Level: Vigorous)

This soulful class invites you to be your authentic self on and off the mat. Unite your mind, body, and spirit through creative, dynamic, and mindful movements. This class includes creative sun salutations and sequences to build strength, stamina, balance, flexibility and, above all, a deep and loving connection to your body and heart. Mondays, 9:15-10:45am with Tracy Donahue and Fridays, 9:15-10:30am with Amanda Upton

Anusara® (Level: Vigorous)

This is a mixed-levels class that focuses on cultivating a sharp mind, soft heart, and vibrant body. Beginners who are in good physical condition are welcome. The class features Anusara Yoga’s Universal Principles of Alignment, Tantric philosophy, a variety of yoga poses (which vary from week to week), step-by-step verbal instructions, and demonstrations of poses by the teacher. Classes are intended to build strength, flexibility and balance. Kim incorporates a spiritual element into each class by weaving a theme throughout the class. Each class begins with a short centering and ends with at least 5 minutes in a restful pose. Mondays, 5:45-7:15pm with Kim Friedman
